My show this week talked a lot about movies and pop culture, as well as my top 5 this week being podcasts. The first thing I got into was ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’. This is the latest in the Martin Scorsese line of movies. I was lucky enough to watch it in theatres with my dad who’s the biggest De Niro fan in the world.
This was a really great film. I was super tired becausewe had a late showing but it honestly flew by. I would love to rewatch it soon because this was so engaging the whole time. De Niro played one of the most evil characters he’s ever done, Leo was amazing as always and Lily Gladstone was so touching as Mollie. I had moments I felt like crying but then it would quickly change before getting too deep. Recommend watching this film if you want to see storytelling at its finest. Very sad but real film. Shoutout to Marty for making another classic, just what he does.
Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, stars of different ‘Karate Kid’ movies, are joining forces for a new project. Sony has launched a search for the next martial arts talent to play Li Fong, a smart and skilled teen between 15 and 17 years old. No acting experience is required, but fluency in English and being Chinese or mixed-race Chinese is a must. Cobra Kai has become a phenomenon for Netflix bringing back the popularity of ‘Karate Kid’. This collaboration of the two ‘Karate Kid’ worlds is directed by Jonathan Entwistle and is set to premiere on Dec. 13, 2024.
My top 5 this week changed from my oringal plan because I wanted to talk about podcasts. So here is my top 5 current podcasts. Coming in at number 5 I got The Old Man & The Three, which is a podcast hosted by former NBA player JJ Reddick and it’s a really insightful look into the world of athletes. At number 4 I got the It’s Always Sunny Podcast, which is of course hosted by the 3 creators of the show and is just like the show. So if you like the show, you’ll like this. Coming in at number 3 I got The Basement Yard hosted by Joe Santagato and Frankie Alavarez. What a hilarious podcast with two best friends, definitely recommended if you haven’t listened. I have been watching Joe since about 2015 so it’s awesome to see how big the podcast has become. At number 2 I got The Weekly Planet which is hosted by two guys named James and Mason who are just the funniest people to me. They’re comic book and movie fans, they just cover all the news from the past week to do with movies in general, pop culture things like that, it’s really great. Finally at number one, i Pay Pigs hosted by Ben and Emil, who were formerly known as trillionaire mindset on the TMG network with Cody Ko. These two have such an amazing dynamic and the podcast covers important topics like politics, stocks, global economy and so many other things, but they make it really fun to learn what’s going on. They still cover funny stuff too though, they to me are the most versatile podcasters out right now.
Join me next week same time, same place, Wednesday 8am!
