On this week of the Jack Mancini Show, I discussed a lot of fun topics, Seneca news and of course my top 5 list.
I have had a blast the past few weeks since we’ve had more events here at Say Radio. Speaking of, we got another event coming up, tomorrow at noon we’re going live from the Hive, till 1pm. We’re giving away prizes, playing your favourite songs and just having a fun time. Then the following Thursday we’ll be having a 3 hour special event. Which I’ll talk about next week. But as for the rest of the week, tomorrow we got Paint & Sip, which is painting and smoothie day. Starts at 1 and goes till 3. Then Friday is the return of Karaoke night, from 3 to 5. I absolutely love being here, talking to each and every single one of you.
There are few things that I am more passionate about, than Disney channel original movies aka DCOMs. The pure nostalgia and joy I get from some of these is incredible, so without overthinking because I could list 30 I love. Let’s get into my top 5 Disney channel original movies. Also unfortunately Holes & Sky high got theatrical releases so I can’t have them on this list. But starting us off at number 5 I got Johnny Tsunami, the first movie. Every time I watched this as a kid it made me wanna pick up a surfboard and go to Hawaii. It’s definitely not one of the most popular or even the best acting. But just for the heart it portrays a simple father son relationship issue movie. and the amazing performance by Johnny’s Grandpa, who’s played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa who was in the Mortal Kombat movies and a lot of others. Really easy going movie. Number 4 we got Wendy Wu homecoming warrior. This movie is essentially the kids version of The Five Deadly Venoms. Where the main character has to master all these martial arts based off animals like snakes. It’s really well acted as most of Brenda Song’s roles are and it’s stuck with me long enough to put it at number four. Coming in at number 3 we have probably the best written and acted DCOM I would argue, but I just couldn’t have it past these next two for personal nostalgic reasons, its Get a Clue with Lindsey Lohan. This is actually a really great mystery who done it film. We don’t really see many kids movies take on complex stories where they take them fully seriously. But here we absolutely get that. Definitely recommend it even now if you haven’t seen it in a while or have not at all. At number 2 we got Halloweentown. I’m putting the first one here just cuz it’s a classic but you could exchange any of the other 3 and I would be happy, in fact my favourite is probably 4 to be honest. I don’t really need to say much because it’s played every halloween but it has a really unique universe that made those kids feel like they had purpose, always a fun story to watch unfold. Finally at number 1, I got Minutemen. For whatever reason, this movie has stuck with me more than any other Disney Channel Original Movie and I don’t really know why. I could watch this over and over. It’s just a time travel movie with 3 friends but it just always remained in my core memories. So I had to put it at number one. But now I wanna know your own top 5 DCOMs, let us know over @SAYRADIO on Instagram.
Can’t wait for next weeks show…top 5 bands of all time!
