One movie that I absolutely admire is the fairly recent Quentin Tarantino movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I REALLY love this movie not only because it’s a Tarantino film, but I find that it is the perfect love letter to Hollywood. When I say that, I’m saying that it pays homage to the “golden age” of Hollywood, which was during the tail end of the 1950’s going into the 1960’s. I obviously wasn’t alive during this era of Hollywood (nor am I a time traveler), but it made me gain a new appreciation for the pop culture at that time. Tarantino is no stranger to leaving a bunch of little easter eggs in his films too, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is next level! Everything from old Hollywood shows and films like FBI to The Great Escape, Tarantino makes it clear that his only goal wasn’t to immerse the viewer in this experience, but to make them feel like they’re familiar with this era too. If you’re a fan of Quentin Tarantino’s movie catalog, this one is the absolute cherry on top, as it could (and I really hope not) be Tarantino’s last film. If this were to be the case, I wouldn’t complain as it is an absolute blockbuster gem and soon to be classic!
