The Truman Show is a film starring Jim Carrey that came out in 1998. Jim plays the main character of the movie in which he is a man who grew up in a television show. But he has no clue on what is really going on. You are along for the ride in trying to have him figure out what is wrong and how he is supposed to interact with his world. This is a movie that gets better with every single watch. The reason why is because you notice more about what’s going on in the background and the reactions of the “actors”. Not only is the story unique in its approach, but it’s also very stylized. There are plenty of cool shots that come to mind like the POV of the mirror camera, as well as in the whole final act of the film looking spectacular. I think that there are funnier Jim Carrey movies, and even some more emotional ones. But this film provokes a whole other feeling. Paranoia. Feeling like you are being watched on a TV show. It’s a very scary, but crazy interesting take on the whole idea of media and its control.
