For starters, I’ve never been the type of person to have a set, “favourite” movie so-to-speak. However, as I’ve seen many movies over the years, one stands the test of time and has me coming back to it over and over again; My Cousin Vinny. Directed by Jonathan Lynn, and starring Ralph Macchio and Joe Pesci, this movie has non-stop laughs all the way through. Pesci playing the titular character, Vincent “Vinny” Gambini, an up and coming (but not so young) lawyer, as the defendant in a murder trial for his nephew and nephew’s friend. The dynamic between Vinny and his girlfriend, played by Marisa Tomei, the trial judge, and the small country town where this all takes place, makes for some wildly entertaining set-ups and scenes that will have you laughing the whole way through. After first watching this one at just 12 years old, who would have thought that this film would have me still coming back and still laughing after a decade of watching. A great viewing with brilliantly written comedy, My Cousin Vinny is a staple of great 90’s comedy, and I could not recommend it more than I already have. Set some time aside and add this one to your list, you won’t be disappointed.
