Hey Guys Welcome back! Today I wanted to take some time to talk about one of my personal favorite comic book movies “Kick ass”! When I first watched this movie I wasn’t sure what to think. When it came out in 2010 I didn’t watch it until later since I was very young at that time. But when I watched it I found it weirdly diffrent since it has a very grounded feel! And at the time I was more into the Avengers and the larger than life characters like Batman and Spiderman.
But even back then I liked the film! Kick ass has this “real world” vibe to it, Dave Lizewski AKA Kick ass played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson feels like the kind of person you could meet in real life. He has this Brash innocence that all young people in high school have that other teen-biased superhero movies don’t get right enough. He wants nothing more than to be a Superhero and save the day just like the comic characters he looks up to. But one of the things that make this film the most real to me is when Dave becomes Kick ass for the first time, And he tries to fight the Thief’s in the back alley, with no training, no cool gadgets and no superpowers! In most superhero films the hero would beat them all up and it would be a showing of them learning there limits early on before meeting the big villain but in Kick ass, He gets stabbed and almost dies. I think this shows that although he wears a costume and acts like a hero he is still human! But mainly is Shows the harsh reality of being a Superhero with no powers. Despite me saying this movie is more grounded it does have its fantastical side as well, mainly with its other superheroes:” Hit Girl” and “Big Daddy” Played by Chole Grace Moretz and Nick Cage. who basically play Batman and robin if they killed people. The two of them definitely drive the main plot with Kick ass being our way into this world since he is new to Superhero-ing. The Movie Kick ass also is R Rated this being before Deadpool and other R Rated Superhero movies it was a risk that definitely paid off. So If you like Superheroes and Grounded Nonsensical violence then I would definitely recommend Kick ass as its a Great Movie with a lot of heart.
