Hey, last warning. I spoil every big plot point of the new Star Wars movie in the next sentence, so come back after you have see the movie.
The biggest problem with the new Star Wars movie isn’t that Snoke died, or Rey isn’t a Kenobi, or the fact the Luke died. The REAL problem with the new Star Wars is that your expectations got the best of you. The movie took all those fan theories and threw them in the trash to build a new Star Wars universe. We didn’t need Rey to be the child of a character from one of the older movies. She needed to be a brand-new character. Daisy Ridley has even said in interviews that her parents don’t matter, but we didn’t listen. Snoke was just a copy of the emperor from the original movies, and ditching him to build Kylo’s character was a great call. Do we not want characters who are well defined and developed? Luke’s death is just another way they are slowly letting go of the previous movies. Kylo is even talks to the audience directly in the throne room scene telling them to let go of the past. How obvious does it need to be before people ditch their expectations of what a Star Wars movie should be, and enjoy these awesome new movies for what they are, great Star Wars movies.
