We’re starting out 2018 with a bang, as somehow famous public image, Logan Paul, has just ended his YouTube career.
This YouTube vlogger released a video on New Year’s Eve of his trip to Aokigahara (also known as Suicide Fores) which is just at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan. Upon arriving there, the star and his mates joked about finding bodies and spooky encounters etc.
Well it just so happens that they stumbled upon a hanging man’s corpse and this scumbag decided to film it and post it to his account for his 15 million subscribers to see along with the rest of the world. He exploited a dead body in an attempt for more views… Who does that? That is just sickening.
Since then, Logan has apologized and taken down the video, however, there can be no justification for this. He used this poor man’s last decision as a plug for the suicide hotline. But showing somthing so horrific and graphic completely canccels out that gesture. It’s borderline romanticising the act of suicide, especially when you laugh about it seconds after filming the remains and talking to them.
I sincerely hope this guy is wiped from the internet and that we don’t have to see anymore of him, I cannot imagine what that poor man was going through beforehand and now the horror that his family and friends are now facing with something so shocking become a worldwide trend.
Exploitation is a disgusting thing. Suicide is even worse. It shouldn’t be joked about and it needs to be brought more to our attention in a professional manner – not some sick online video. The internet has desensitized so many people and it really shone through the act of Logan Paul today.
