The Grammy Awards

This year is the 58th Grammy awards and a few of our own Canadian artists were up for nominations.

This year was LL Cool J’s 5th time hosting the show.

Taylor Swift opened up the show with glitter bombing everyone, and performing to her new single Out Of the Woods.

One of the great things about this year’s award show, was that many Canadians were nominated. Drake, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd.

The Weeknd was nominated for 11 awards, running close to Micheal Jackson’s record of 12 nominations for the show.

The Weeknd won two of his nominations, those being:

1. Best Urban Contemporary Album for Beauty Behind The Madness

2. Best R&B Performance for Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)

The show had a lot of artist paying homage to those who have left us early, and two of those stood out more to me than any other. The first being the Hollywood Vampires, a rock band composed of Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry. The other Lady Gaga in Tribute to David Bowie.

Lady Gaga hit the house hard and did wonderful for the tribute. She got the dance moves spot on and her voice was beautiful.

Here’s a bit of behind the scenes of Gaga going all out for David Bowie’s tribute. (Source: YouTube)

A lot of great celebrities, musicians, and actors alike have passed away, but let us not be saddened by this, and live on for them.

When the 59th Grammy Awards come around, who knows who will hit the top like Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift.
