This generation is very reliant on technology, and I’m not going to lie and say I’m now, because I am quite reliant on technology, but only for entertainment purposes. Fortunately I do read a lot, but recently I’v been getting more into gaming. I remember when I was younger playing on the PS1, the GameBoy Colour and Advance SP. A game that was really popular back then was Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64. That game, as well as many others, evolved with technology as I grew older, and we have Super Smash Bros. 4 for the Nintendo 3DS. Throughout the years I’ve lived, I’ve seen game consuls evolve and improve, like the PS1 to the recent PS4.

The PlayStation Consuls

The PS1 was just becoming outdated when I was born, however, I remember most of the games that I’ve played on the PS2. There were my favourite games, Kingdom Hearts, the 1st and 2nd Shadow Hearts, Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, the many Rachet & Clank games, and a few of the Resident Evil (mainly the 4th game). There were a lot of other games that my family played, like Rise of Kasai, Star Wars: Battlefront, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4, and so many others. Then with the PS3, we didn’t have as many games since we didn’t have a lot to spend on it at the time. Nonetheless, we still had great games to play, like more Rachet & Clank, Little Big Planet, Dark Souls, or my favoutire Dragon Age: Origins and Oblivion. Once Call of Duty: Black Ops came out, my family rushed to get the game and we played Zombie mode nonstop. Finally, we just recently for the PS4 and only have 3 games for it, and those were Dragon Age: Inquisitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and Fallout 4. Fallout 4 has been a really big hype, and my brother has been playing it whenever he gets the chance, if not, then my father is on playing Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The Game Boy timeline

Moving on, another game system that had undergone a lot of change, was the Game Boy. The Game Boy, I never really knew, but the Game Boy Colour and the Game Boy Advance SP was something I’ve watch my brother play a lot. One of the most common and popular games even till this day started with the game boy, and that’s Pokemon. Soon the Game Boy  advanced (pun not intended) to the Nintendo DS where you could play some fun games like Final Fantasy, Prof. Layton, and Pheonix Wright. And now, the Nintendo DS became the Nintendo 3DS and the New 3DS, which have my all time favourite games Super Smash Bros and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.

In addition to those games stationary and hand held consuls, a PC or a Laptop can be made and modified to specifically play games, and I’ve only just started to touch base with that. The PC went from the good old Minesweeper and spider solitaire, to having an online game software like Steam with games like Minecraft, Terraria, and Don’t Starve. Personally, I need a new laptop with more space and that had better quality to play even newer games like Castle Crashers and Dead Realm.

Now with the new PS4 and PC systems like Steam, people who are new to gaming, or who are still in the loop, be ready for some more games to come out, because I hear with the software we have nowadays, the graphics and story lines will be amazing.
