Star Wars: Battlefront was recently released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While not actually a sequel to the other Star Wars: Battlefront games, it is still a game that many gamers have been hoping for since 2005. Star Wars Battlefront 2 was released in that year, and gamers and Star Wars fans alike have been waiting for that entire time.
As a major Star Wars fan myself, it may come as a surprise to you that I do not actually have the game yet. The game in question being Star Wars Battlefront if you skipped the title. Seriously though, who reads an article without looking at the title first? But I digress. I was so absorbed in Fallout 4 that I completely forgot this game was released. That being said, however, I really want to play this game. Most of my friends are actually playing it. I was in a PlayStation 4 party with them last night, and all I was hearing highlights of matches.
With most of the snippets of conversation coming through with my internet cutting out, consistently kicking me out of the party, I was hearing only positive things. Mostly laughing, and the odd “Oh god run away from Darth Vader!” followed by a “Oh man where is he- Never mind I’m dead.” Followed by lots of laughter. I can only assume that my friends are really enjoying the game, despite their earlier fears of possible lacklustre feedback.
My friends may be die hard Star Wars fans, but they will never play a game that they don’t really enjoy. With all of this knowledge in my mind as I repeatedly got dismembered by Super Mutants and Ghouls alike, I decided that I will definitely buy this game this weekend. Not because all my friends have it- well, okay, maybe that’s part of it. Quiet. Anyway, I will buy the game because I love Star Wars and because I want a game that I will be able to play with my friends for a long time to come.
The internet seems to disagree with most of my friends on this point though. Most people see the game as only average. According to some reviews the game feels unfinished and the game play is really lacking. These people are mostly Battlefield fan boys and Call of Duty fan boys. Only problem that I find with these reviews are they seem to be unfair to me. These people fully expect this game to be exactly like the two biggest first person shooter games that are competing to be the top. I think this is a ridiculous standard to hold a game to, especially one that is targeted at Star Wars fans.
All ranting aside, I am still super excited to pick up this game, despite what internet people may have to say.
I don’t know about you but I see a very bright Horizon for this game and myself. Wait, that’s a Mass Effect reference. Okay, here, It’s going to be a Millennium before you see this Falcon again. Nice. Awesome pun. Ten out of ten.
