TMZ caught up with Laila Ali at LAX and asked what she thought about the most recent UFC fight between the undefeated champ, Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm. It’s clear that Ali was throwing some shade towards Rousey because Ali was team Holm during the entire conversation. Ali says that Holm is very talented and it was clear that night Holm was the better fighter.
When TMZ asked Ali how she felt about Rousely having a rematch with Holm, she claims that it wouldn’t be a good idea and predicts the fight will end the same exact way, if not worse. Ouch!!!
“In order to be the best in the world, you definitely don’t EVER get beat up like that in your prime, period.” – Laila Ali on Ronda Rosey
Is it a possibility that Ronda predicted her own loss? It seems that way! In an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallow, Ronda explained in detail what kind of fighter Holly is and how exactly she would fight during the big night.
“She’s the type of fighter you have to be very patient with. She’s going to try to keep distance and keep far away from me and keep me frustrated and to the point where I’ll make a mistake and she’ll try to kick me in the head – but it’s not going to go like that.” Are you sure about that, Ronda?
However, Laila’s comments are the least of Ronda’s worries. It seems that the 28-year fighter, who was knocked out in less than one minute into the second round by her 34-year old opponent Holly Holm, could be band from the ring for up to six months.
The UFC released a list of fighters’ medical suspensions, which states that Rousey is prohibited from fighting for 60 days and she is not allowed to have any contact with other fighters for 45 days.
Rousey, who received a kick to her head during the UFC 193 fight, was treated at an Australian hospital to get stitches on her lip and received a CT scan.
The list, which was released to MixedMartialArts.com, showed that Rousey could be given a six month-medical suspension unless her CT scan revealed no damage to her head.
In an Instagram post that was published on Sunday night, Rousely says, “I just want to thank everyone for the love and support. I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back”.
We all know Laila Ali is one tough cookie, but I would love to see Ronda and Laila in the ring together. Who else is with me on that one?
