We’re living in a unique time in television where after over a decade of Reality TV dominance, viewers are desperate for the return of quality sitcoms. And while super successful modern sitcoms such as the Big Bang Theory are still doing well, it seems that Hollywood writers and producers have run out of ideas, which may explain why so many 1990’s sitcom hits that were long retired are making an unprecedented comeback.
I’m pretty sure that there has never been a time in TV history where a twenty-plus year retired sitcom has been reinstated with the original cast and not as a remake. And it’s not just for a one night reunion episode either. Will and Grace are back in rotation and Roseanne will be doing a nine episode run in 2018.
I have to say that I am excited about Roseanne. Roseanne Barr is one of my favourite comics of all time and it reminds me of my childhood. I welcome its return with bells on.
